Release your needless or burdensome practices, rules, ideas, or traits about Health and Wellness.
People’s emotions and experiences can influence their health behaviors. We develop beliefs about health, eating from our families, our culture and from media advertising. These all have an influence on our behavior.
Once people understand the origins of their beliefs about health and rid the opinions that have been holding them back, it is often easier to make behavior changes. Insights into basic emotions can be a very important resource for improving health.
What is, Training your Mind all about?
Training the mind is creating a new thought pattern.
Not just creating a new thought pattern, creating a new thought pattern to lead to success; to create thoughts that in turn create automatic behavior that leads to the results you want.
How do we do that?
We do that till we destroy the old ones. We repeat new thoughts over and over again till we drown out the old ones and replace them with the new ones.
This is about repetition. That is where your Checklist comes in--repeating the steps over and over again and saying the affirmations over and over again. Regardless of how much you know dig in further and keep going.
Decide today, and repeat these out loud as many times as you need until you hear it:
I want health!
I care about health!
I care how I save and spend for health!
I deserve to live a life of health freedom!
Are you sure you heard it?
Often irrational, feelings and beliefs distort people’s thinking and affect their health.
Examples are:
•
sick and unhealthy people get more attention than healthy people
•
diets don’t work
•
you can’t change bad health genes
•
outward appearance = inner quality
•
eating a meal with your family is stressful
•
disciplining is done at the dinner table
•
skipping meals is a shortcut to becoming thin
•
all snacks and desserts are bad
•
food is used to punish or reward
•
children should eat differently from their parents
•
alcohol and cigarettes are associated with pleasurable social experiences
•
exercise is painful and unnecessary.
Once you recognize and understand your health thoughts or ideas how do you turn your negative thoughts or ideas into positive and motivating health messages? The power of mental visualization, noting our state of mind more than anything else out there determines our level of success.
Health messages can also be turned into affirmations, which are short statements, repeated daily, about a goal expressed as if it has already been achieved like I have a healthy body mass index.
Negative health beliefs turned into a positive health message:
Health Belief:
You can’t control your bad health genes
Health Message: While I can’t control heredity, I can control many aspects of my health such as
diet, exercise, and regular checkups
